On capability at the frontier of deep technology
Conjecture 1. At the frontier of deep tech, capability is independent of credentials.
Axiom. Curiosity precedes credentials.
Lemma 1. The binding constraint is access, not aptitude.
Lemma 2. The instruments of the frontier are cheaper than they have ever been.
Lemma 3. A room of obsessed peers compresses the distance from curious to capable.
Theorem. Let curiosity precede credentials, and let the binding constraint be access. Access is now cheap, and a room of obsessed peers supplies what remains. Then nothing in the path from curious to capable requires a credential to have been granted first. A credential is a lagging record of capability at the frontier, rather than a prerequisite.
Corollary 1. Your age is not a variable in the proof.
Corollary 2. The people the system calls unqualified are often closest to the problem.
